Nu-Kitchen

When Bryan Janeczko and Mark Newhouse started Nu-Kitchen in 2003, they had one goal in mind; delicious and healthy gourmet meals delivered right to your door. Nu-Kitchen’s reputation for delicious, freshly prepared weight loss meals, great customer service, clients like Sarah Jessica Parker and Molly Sims, and mentions in Harper’s Bazaar and In Style sent demand skyrocketing.

As Nu-Kitchen’s client list grew, they were presented with some big performance and stability challenges. Since Bryan and Mark are health nuts and food aficionados, not technology experts, they came to ITX for help. ITX quickly realized Nu-Kitchen’s current system couldn’t handle increases in functionality or spikes in traffic.

To handle the additional demand, ITX built a whole new technology stack. With stability and scalability problems taken care of, we then set about making life easier by designing a system that would allow Nu-Kitchen to manage their entire business. After thorough analysis of Nu-Kitchen’s business objectives and processes, ITX developed a set of custom workflow applications designed around their unique service.

The system allows Nu-Kitchen clients to create menus, set taste preferences, set up delivery and pay for meals, then processes the orders and produces the ‘cook list’ for Nu-Kitchen’s chefs. A daily delivery report ensures clients get what they ordered, where and when they want it.

In late 2008, Nu-Kitchen joined market leader NutriSystem to create ‘nu-kitchen fresh’, expanding their Manhattan-only service to a national platform. Today, Bryan and Mark continue to manage the Nu-Kitchen brand and its operations.
