PKD Foundation

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) affects over 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million children and adults worldwide. This year, the PKD Foundations will fund more than $4 million in vital PKD research. In addition to funding research, the PKD foundation provides a forum for patients, family and friends through more than 70 Chapters worldwide and through HopeSquare.org, an online support community.

When ITX began working with The PKD Foundation, they were facing serious challenges with their current technology provider. Like many not-for-profits, The PKD Foundation heavily relied on a subscription-based content management system [CMS] for fundraising, advocacy and communication. The CMS was failing in many ways; support was weak, customer service was non-responsive and its features were limited and not user-friendly. Additionally, the software was tremendously expensive, eating into a large portion of PKD’s operating budget that would have otherwise been used to fund research.

Rather than be forced to renew their subscription, The PKD Foundation asked ITX to build a new CMS tailored to the needs of today’s not-for-profits. ITX built the entire system and migrated all 670 pages of content to it in only two months.

Now, 80 cents of every dollar raised goes to PKD research and education. working together to develop a new suite of applications for the non-profit community.
