SSRN (Social Sciences Research Network) has been with us since the beginning. Ten years ago, SSRN needed a technology partner. Today, the SSRN eLibrary stores, manages and distributes over 600,000 full text PDF downloads, has over 109 million hits each month across their three sites, and are the number one web repository in the world, as ranked by the Cybermetrics Lab at CSIC.

SSRN's explosive growth presented some challenges that are common concerns for many web-based companies: performance and scalability. Simply, SSRN’s IT infrastructure lacked the ability to support demand.

Over the past decade, ITX has delivered a unique set of custom workflow applications to streamline their web-delivery system. For example, ITX developed CiteReader™, a custom reader that systematically scans digital documents, identifies references, links them together and automatically adds a new link whenever one author cites another.

Additionally, ITX’s system engineers developed a single integrated database now provides the capability for future growth and ensures easier access, management and distribution of millions of documents a month.
